On Aug. 12, Rio Tinto Diamonds

launched a design competition that spotlights both the miner’s
diamonds and sustainable jewelry.

The contest is open to entrants from the United States,
Canada, Hong Kong, China, India, and Australia who can submit designs in the
following categories: champagne diamonds, silvermist diamonds, Canadian diamonds, and sustainable jewelry. There
are two levels of entry: Rising Star and Master Craftsman.

The design competition closes on Oct. 26, with
judging to take place in New York City on Nov. 2. The winning designs will
be showcased at a suite at the 2012 Oscars.
